The following general definition developed by Charlie Guy, M.Ed. is intended to introduce the general nature of Pesonal Learning Environments (PLEs):
A Personal Learning Environment is a safe and externally managed digital place for a learner to access, aggregate, configure, and manipulate digital learning resources for an ongoing and lifetime learning experience.
B
rightZone, a Personal Learning Environment, is a uniquely designed integrated web based solution, installed and locally managed either on the learning institution’s server and/or on an ASP basis, that utilizes a combination of both proprietary and best of class existing digital tools integrated into a single source, user friendly, robust solution. Here the millennial learners can SAFELY interact with their needed eContent by accessing the BrightZonesm via their lifestyle technology devices of media cell phones, iPods, Zunes, or other MP3/4 Players. Safe and supervised access can also be gained through computers, either school, home, or community based.
The digital Personal Learning Environment is thus the convergence of three powerful elements present in the everyday lives of the millennials learners.
